We are told by the vendor that these panels were part of a cabinet in Birmingham's children’s hospital. It is believed that Walt Disney hand signed these panels during his month-long visit to the UK in July/August 1959 where he was interviewed by the BBC for The Children’s Hour. When the cabinet became out-dated and replaced, these panels were removed and kept by the vendor’s father who worked there. The vendor has since had the panels cut down and mounted in card frames.
Below is an extract from the internet regarding his 1959 interview for The Children’s Hour.
In 1959, Walt Disney was interviewed by Derek Hart on the BBC's "Tonight" show, which was part of "The Children's Hour" series. During this interview, Disney shared fascinating insights about his creative process, the evolution of animation, and the challenges of appealing to both children and adults. He discussed iconic characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, revealing interesting anecdotes about their creation and personalities.
Disney also talked about censorship, the importance of appealing to adults (since "children don't have any money"), and the process of making shorter subject films. This interview provides a wonderful glimpse into Disney's thoughts and philosophies on animation and storytelling.
The interview can also be found on the BBCs archive website.
This was a recorded broadcast and probably conducted during Walt's UK visit in July-August of that year, most likely at BBC Radio Studios London or even possibly at BBC Midland Radio Studios in Edgbaston Birmingham
BBC Midland Studios is interesting as they were located very close to the home of JOSEPH COHEN of Woodbourne Manor, Edgbaston, owner of the nationwide chain of JACEY CINEMAS and a friend of Walt Disney who is also reputed to have been a visitor to his property. Also BBC Midland Studios made original broadcast programmes for Children's Hour which were then used across the national network.
